Thredbo In Summer

Thredbo New South Wales in summer transforms from a snow-covered wonderland, to a green, wildflower covered paradise. As the snow melts in the Snowy Mountains creating a torrent into the Snowy River, patches of green start to appear that become splashes of colour and beauty as the wildflowers bloom.

Trekking through the Kosciusko National Park in summer is the best way to see these miracles of nature. Take the scenic Thredbo lift ride to the top of the mountain and explore on your way to the top of Mt Kosciusko.

Of course, if walking is too slow for you, then try mountain biking. Thredbo is known for having some of the best mountain bike runs – the Cannonball is not for the faint hearted! Nor is abseiling the Thredbo Tors at the top of the range.

For an adrenalin rush suitable for the whole family, buy a family pass for the Thredbo bobsled. Here you can enjoy a 700 metre twisting luge-style track in the Thredbo Alpine Village.

If the weather is not quite what you wanted, then head to the Thredbo Leisure Centre and its waterslide, 3 heated pools, rock-climbing wall and sports courts.

Use your accommodation in Thredbo as a base for some great day trips. Thredbo is central to many attractions in the high country. Try fly fishing for trout, exploring the high country on horseback or white water rafting. Thredbo is also close to larger towns such as Jindabyne or Berridale.

Thredbo New South Wales is about 6 hours' drive south of Sydney and 7 hours' drive from Melbourne. Thredbo in summer is a hidden paradise worth visiting.
